The 11th President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, was the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and has worked with the Indian Space Program, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Defense Research and Development Program. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1981 and the Bharat Ratna in 1997. Srijan Pal Singh is an IIM Ahmedabad graduate who chose to work in politics after graduation. He has worked closely with Dr. Kalam on many projects dealing with sustainable development solutions in rural areas.
